Gamlestads smedja (Gamlestad’s forge) is an eight-storey office building in central Gothenburg with a total of 13,000 square metres of flexible office space and 800 workplaces.
Semrén & Månsson Architects drew inspiration from the district’s industrial heritage but created a modern interpretation where a carefully detailed brick façade and sheet metal details meet large glass sections and solar cells on the roof.
The building has been environmentally certified according to BREEAM Excellent – the system’s highest classification.
The industrial feel is present in the interior as well, with traditional materials such as steel, concrete and wood. Gustafs nano-perforated panels in white pigmented oak veneer have been installed on the walls in the building’s spacious lobby and atrium. Our Linear Rib in the same veneer has been mounted on top of the panels, giving them a sleek framing.
Gamlestads smedja was one of three finalists in the Hotel and Office category of Årets Bygge 2025 (Building of the Year 2025), awarded by the trade magazine Byggindustrin.
