The stunning atrium of the Brunel Building is magnificent in so many ways. The eye-catching staircase and lift house, centrally located in the atrium, has been clad with our wooden acoustic panels. The reason is that the entire stairwell acts as the primary absorber of sound in the large, bright hall.
Throughout the large building, our acoustic panels are installed to optimise the sound in the hospital environment. The panels are made of wood and use different types of perforations to adjust the absorption. Throughout the project, we have worked with our UK partner, LSA Projects, to deliver the right products at the right quality.
Vicky Casey, Architect Director at BDP, talks to us about the use of materials in Bristol’s Southmead Hospital and how they created a harmonious and inspiring environment.
