Health and sustainability are in focus at Forskaren, the new life science center in northern Stockholm. Forskaren was inaugurated in May 2024 and is a real eye-catcher with its unique round shape. It serves as an innovation hub for actors in healthcare, academia, research, and business. The building offers 24 000 sqm of flexible workspaces, co-working spaces and common areas. The entrance floor is open to the public, offering events, exhibitions, showrooms, and restaurants. Forskaren is located in the new Hagastaden neighbourhood, one of the world’s most foremost areas of life science.

Forskaren’s spectacular atrium has two focal points; the sculptural spiral staircase that run all the way from the bottom to the top, and the 12-metre-high light artwork “The Veins of Life” by Danish design studio Yoke, that hangs from the ceiling and pulsates in line with energies and movement in the building. Natural materials and biophilical elements emphasises what the building is all about, and the big window in the ceiling ensures rich amounts of daylight.
The railings in the atrium have been clad with Gustafs Lamellow+ with ribs in oak veneer and acoustic felt backing in dark grey. In addition, our ribs are mounted on the walls around the elevator halls on each floor, and we have also supplied the project with wood panels in niches, all in oak veneer.
