The swedish shopping center Emporia have recieved the award BREEAM building of the year at Swedish Green Building Awards. To create a sustainable building has been our goal all along the way. This Award is an aknowledge that we have succeeded, says Christer Arnesson, Property Manager Director at Steen & Ström in Sweden. The Sweden Green Building Award aims to give the prize to certificated buildings under the year – and at the same time recognize people or organizations who works with sustainable projects in Sweden.
The architect behind this project is Gert Wingårdh from Wingårdhs Arkitekter.
Gustafs Scandinavia has been a part of this great project. We have produced and installed about 2200 m² laminate panels with a metallict surface and 1600 m² veneered panels stained in different colours.
The jury’s motivation for this year’s winner included how they spread knowledge about BREEAM and sustainability through study visits.
– Steen & Ström has shown that certification in Sweden is at the forefront and through their network of contacts in Europe and as members of Gresb, they have arranged a large number of study visits and thereby spread knowledge about BREEAM and sustainability. Emporia, with its rooftop park and its international impact, has become an advertising model for BREEAM certification in Sweden.
