Billund Airport is Denmark’s second largest airport, with around four million passengers annually. It’s one of the country’s busiest air cargo centres, and numerous airlines also operate regular and charter flights to and from Billund. Many inbound travellers are surely headed for the nearby Legoland – the largest tourist attraction in Denmark outside Copenhagen.
The airport, opened in 1964, has undergone extensive renovations and extensions to modernise and adapt to future needs. As part of the refurbishment, Gustafs and our Danish distributor JJI has supplied wall panels in rotary cut birch veneer for the airport’s customs area.
Fire safety for employees and passengers is an important priority at an airport, and a regulatory requirement for all commercial buildings. Thanks to the construction of our wooden panels, with a thin wooden veneer covering a non-combustible fibre gypsum core, the entire installation can achieve fire classification A2-s1,d0 – making them an excellent choice for these types of facilities.
