The ever-growing area around Arenastaden in Stockholm has gained an addition that beats most when it comes to sustainability. The 11-storey building boasts Scandinavia’s first zero-energy hotel, operated by Nordic Choice Hotels.
The building consists of three different parts, of which the hotel with its 336 rooms is one. The other two parts consist of Nordic Choice Hotel’s new Swedish headquarters and a floor of long-stay apartments. As part of the architecture, the facade and roof have been clad with more than 2,500 square metres of solar cells, which contribute to the building’s own electricity production, which is more than the property will consume.
In the large atrium, which spans 11 floors, Gustaf panels have been chosen for the interior wall cladding. Our panels have a high thermal mass which makes them good at storing thermal energy. In this way, the panels help to maintain a constant temperature throughout the day, thus contributing to important savings in energy supply.
In addition to the thermal mass of our panels, they also contribute to a stylish and acoustically appropriate interior. The acoustic panels have been manufactured with our Stripe Perforation RP8-C10, which achieves absorption class A. The panels in the lower part are made of oak veneer. The upper floors, which extend up to the glass roof, feature our wood panels with a white pigmented pine veneer. All the wood veneer in the project is FSC-certified.
