E.ON’s new Nordic headquarters was completed in May this year, in the brand new Nyhamnen neighbourhood in Malmö. A prime example of modern architecture, but also a clear symbol of the company’s focus on sustainability. The nine-storey building is environmentally certified to BREEAM Outstanding and both the building and the business are certified to the WELL Building Standard, which aims to improve human health and well-being.
Reuse has been a keyword for the interior design, with furniture from E.ON’s previous offices being used, largely in their existing condition. In addition, all new textiles such as carpets and curtains are made from recycled materials.

Gustafs Linear Rib is mounted on all floors, in ash veneer and painted in several different colours. Tengbom, who was the interior designer for the project, has based the office’s interior design on the concept ‘Journey through Sweden’ where the colour palette together with the other interior design reflects Sweden’s rich nature.
Each floor represents different parts of the country, with themes such as ‘Sun-bleached oat fields’ – with light woods and organic materials – and ‘Deep in the forest’ with a much darker colour scheme.

Gustafs’ ribs also feature on the back wall behind the reception desk, with an integrated light installation symbolising the energy of nature. The ribs have been covered with a wallpaper made of dried, pressed sunflower seeds.
A unique installation that reminds us of the potential upcycling value of nature and how it can be integrated into modern work environments.
