Fire Reaction

Gustafs Blayde is designed for public spaces, with a fire-rating up to A2-s1,d0. Blayde uses a high-density fire-resistant gypsum core and has natural wood veneer finish—an all-natural solution without fire retardants.

CUSTOMIZED

Tailored dimensions

Blayde baffles are available in lengths of up to 3000 mm and can be adapted to suit specific project requirements. The system allows the baffle depth to vary from 130 mm to 400 mm, enabling different acoustic performance levels and visual expressions within the same ceiling concept.

Installation density can also be customized. Blayde baffles may be installed closely aligned for a continuous expression or with defined spacing between the baffles, both across the ceiling and along the length of the installation. This flexibility makes it possible to fine-tune acoustics, lighting integration, and spatial rhythm to match the architectural intent.

Mix within mix

Mix Blayde with F-Line R lighting baffles to create a uniqe and acoustic ceiling. The system allows continuous lines of light that follow the same rhythm and spacing as the acoustic panels, creating a unified and elegant ceiling design.

With its modular concept, F-Line can be placed individually or connected in series for long, light lines. The result is a coherent architectural expression where light and acoustic design work together in perfect balance.

Veneer

Blayde can be combined with Acoustex acoustic felt to add both colour and character to the design. The felt is available in a wide range of carefully selected tones – from subtle neutrals to bold accent colours – allowing you to tailor the visual expression of each project.

By choosing different Acoustex colours, you can create soft contrasts, rhythm, and depth, while maintaining the clean linear look that defines Blayde. The combination enhances both the acoustic performance and the aesthetic value, resulting in interiors that feel balanced, refined, and acoustically comfortable.

Quality in room acoustics requires a well-balanced combination of absorption and reflection. Gustafs Blayde will deliver the perfect solution for sound absorption and at the same time provide a good reflection and diffusion. Simply adjust the rooms reverberation by varying the spaces between the Baffles.

If the Blayde depth exceedes the spacing between the Blaydes the acoustic value reaches class C.

This is already valid without Feltfon backings or other installations. With Feltfon backings class A is easily achieved.

Safety in our core

By covering a non-combustible fibre gypsum core with a thin layer of wood, we have created a natural and impregnation-free composition so that Blayde does not noticeable contribute to fire.

The fibre gypsum core of Gustafs Blayde is regarded an inherently none-emitting source of VOCs, just like stone, ceramic, metals, glass and concrete. Blayde is also completely impregnation-free and that is why our baffles are naturally very low emitting, guaranteeing a healthy room air quality.

It’s in our Swedish DNA to do everything we can to reduce the environmental impact of our business. We have come a long way and we are proud that our production is certified using 100% renewable energy, that our products are made from 98 percent natural materials and 94 percent recycled materials, and that all Blaydes are free from retardants, added formaldehyde or isocyanate binders.

The 5 natural benefits of our fibre gypsum core

Gustafs Blayde are produced with a high-density, reinforced fibre gypsum core having inherent properties regarding dimension stability, emissions, sustainability, fire safety and acoustics. These 5 fundamental demands in today’s modern building industry effectively eliminate most traditional wood-based alternatives.

Stability

Unaffected by indoor climate changes, fibre gypsum doesn’t bulge, warp or swell. The zero spacing in-line joints between the Blaydes will remain zero over their full lifetime.

Fire Safety

Non-combustible and homogeneous by nature, fibre gypsum doesn’t need chemicals to achieve its fire rating. A Blayde with wood veneer consists of 97% fibre gypsum and has a fire classification of A2-s1,d0 / B-s1,d0 depending on installation.

Acoustics

Acoustic solutions with a higher density are usually favourable compared to lighter materials. Fibre gypsum-based Blaydes are heavier than wood-based cladding materials and sound waves will not make them vibrate or resonate.

Sustainability

Thanks to the cores high density and low thermal conductivity, the baffles help to maintain room temperature, reducing the need for cooling or heating. Fibre gypsum contains of 94% recycled material. Even better is the fact that 17% of the total content comes from post-consumer recycled material, very important for the certification of buildings.

Emissions

Fibre Gypsum cores are extremely low emitting. One of the reasons is that they are produced without wood binders and automatically without added urea-formaldehyde or isocyanates. Blaydes, containing 97% Fibre Gypsum, will per definition have very low TVOC and formaldehyde emissions.
