Acoustic felt

Washed and chipped rPET flakes are melted down and spun into the fibres to make Gustafs Acoustex Felt.

Acoustic felt

The ribs are attached to a 9 mm thick Acoustex felt which is made from a minimum of 50% post consumer recycled PET bottles. The felt is Oeko-Tex certified.

The acoustic felt is available in a wide range of colours, but the three standard shades are:

Core colours

The fibre gypsum is available in Light Grey and Anthracite.

The light grey core is commonly used for the lighter veneers such as birch, ash, oak.

The anthracite core is commonly used for darker veneers such as walnut, smoked oak, grey oak and oak.

Lamellow+ Linear is a panel with the standard dimensions 600 mm wide, 2400 mm long and 22 mm thick. Bespoke lengths up to 3000 mm are available.

By using Lamellow+ framing profiles and additional felt strips you will always have perfect framing on your panels. The framing profile can be used on all sides of the panel’s edges, and gives the wall a solid wood feeling.

5 natural benefits of the fibre gypsum core

The slats of Gustafs Lamellow+ are produced with a high-density, reinforced fibre gypsum core having inherent properties in terms of dimension stability, emissions, sustainability, fire safety and acoustics. These 5 fundamental demands in today’s modern building industry effectively eliminate most traditional wood-based alternatives.

Stability

Unaffected by indoor climate changes, both the rPET Acoustex felt, and the fibre gypsum doesn’t bulge, warp or swell – making large panels and zero-spaced joints perfectly viable. The end-result will be beautiful and remain so over the full lifetime.

Fire Safety

The Non-combustible fibre gypsum core of the ribs, nor the Gustafs Acoustex PET felt backing need chemicals to achieve their fire rating. The complete Lamellow+ panel holds a true fire classification B-s1,d0.

Acoustics

Acoustically, the use of a wall cladding with a higher density is usually favourable compared to lighter materials. Fibre gypsum-based ribs are heavier than wood-based solutions and sound waves will not make them vibrate or resonate. The Gustafs Acoustex backing has superb sound dampening qualities.

Sustainability

The high-density core of the Lamellow+ ribs has a low thermal conductivity, and stabilizes the room temperature, reducing the need for cooling or heating. The Lamellow+ ribs contain 17% post-consumer recycled material and the acoustic felt minimum 50%, very important for LEED or BREEAM certification of buildings.

Emissions

Fibre Gypsum core of the Lamellow+ ribs is extremely low emitting. One of the reasons is that these cores are produced without wood binders and automatically without added urea-formaldehyde or isocyanates. Also, the PET acoustic felt is very low emitting, resulting in a overall product with per definition very low TVOC and formaldehyde emissions.

Installed directly on an existing wall or ceiling

The Lamellow+ acoustic panels are really simple and quick to mount, directly on any existing wall or ceiling. Depending on the total construction of the installation, sound absorption class A or D will be reached, but all constructions will achieve fire safety class B-s1,d0.

Acoustic class A

To reach acoustic absorption class A for walls, add 45 mm mineral wool insulation behind the panels and for suspended ceilings use Gustafs T24 Capax system to create a 200 mm air void, no additional insulation needed.

Acoustic class D

For acoustic absorption class D , install directly to the wall or ceiling.

Fixtures

Depending on the sub-construction, screw or nail in the felt between the ribs or use glue. Use screws and nails in colours matching the felt.

Cut the acoustic panels to fit your wall or ceiling. Cut the slats with a sharp saw and the acoustic felt with a carpenter knife.

The fibre gypsum core of Gustafs Lamellow+ ribs and the Acoustex felt backing are regarded inherently none-emitting sources of VOC’s. These naturally very low emitting qualities plus the impregnation-free fire safety of the Lamellow+ panel, guarantee a healthy room air quality.

Green Acoustics

It’s in our Swedish DNA to do everything we can to reduce the environmental impact of our business. We have come a long way and we are proud that our production is certified using 100% renewable energy. The felt backing of Lamellow+ contains a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled material and the ribs are made of 94% recycled material, including 17% post-consumer recycled material.

The whole panel is free from retardants, added formaldehyde or isocyanate binders. FSC® certified wood is available, and Gustafs Certificate Code is SCS-COC-005137.
